Night Owl

Name Night Owl
Category Winter Steelhead
Hook Salmon, Size 2
Thread Black
Tag Flat Silver Tinsel, Tied Long
Butt Two Turns of Red Chenille
Body Flat Silver Tinsel
Wing White Bucktail
Hackle Orange Saddle or Bucktail
Eyes Black Hour Glass Eyes with Orange Eye Dot and Black Center (I used stick-on eyes)

Note: This pattern is listed in Mel Marshall's, Steelhead, Copyright 1973 as one of the top two dozen Winter Steelhead flies to be counted on. He writes, that Night Owl seems to have no appeal when tied in smaller than a #2, but has proved irresistible in that size. This fly can also be tied non-optic style, without the eyes.
