The pattern for this fly, originated by Walt Johnson, came from the fine book by Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen, Flies for Steelhead.  They write that this fly was the first and most successful of the "Mover" series first tied in 1986. It is most effective "... on summer fish that are holed up in late fall."
