The pattern for this fly, originated by Walt Johnson, came from the fine book by Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen, Flies for Steelhead.  They write that this fly is one of the best of the "Madness" series of flies developed by Dave McNeese, John Shewey, and Bill Schiffman.
