Hook Size 2, Mustad 7970
Category Pacific Salmon/Steelhead
Body Oval Silver Tinsel
Wing Yellow Bucktail over Red Bucktail
Head 1/4 Split Brass Bead, Painted Black; White Eyes With Red Pupils

The pattern for this fly, came from the fine book by Bruce Ferguson, Les Johnson, and Pat Trotter, Fly Fishing For Pacific Salmon. They write that the Optics are a group of compact, fast-sinking flies from a series designed for winter steelhead by C. Jim Pray. Although designed for steelhead, they produce well on salmon.
