Thompson River Caddis (Lemire)

Thompson River Caddis

Name Thompson River Caddis (Lemire)
Category Steelhead
Hook Partridge N Low Water # 4
Thread Black 3/0 Monocord
Body Watery Green Angora dubbing (I mixed White & Light Olive)
Underwing & Wing Green phase Ringneck Pheasant body feather
Collar and HeadMoose body spun in a dubbing loop-clipped flat top and bottom

This version of Harry Lemire's Thompson River Caddis was tied by William Lovelace. You can see many more of the numerous flies he has contributed to Salmonfly.Net on his page, The Flies of William Lovelace.

Bill's Notes: This Harry Lemire pattern was originally dubbed with Watery Green Seal or more recently Musk Ox for the body. The Moose body was spun using black size A Nymo or Kevlar thread. After spreading the Moose hair in the dubbing loop about 80% is trimmed off the bottom before spinning the loop to form the legs and head. Harry was a great tyer and gentleman who passed away in early June and will be missed! His legacy will live on in the NW at the Shows and in the Rivers!
