The first Spade came into being about 1964, devised by Bob Arnold for the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River. Since then there have been numerous variations including those done by Alec Jackson. Edgar's Spade comes from the bench of Samonfly.Net Contributing Fly Tyer William Lovelace.
Bill's notes:
"This is my variation of one of Alec Jackson’s popular spade series flies. My father used to steelhead fish with a heavy copper spinner with some orange yarn behind it."
