Green Butt Skunk was tied by Salmonfly.Net Contributing Fly Tyer, Monte Smith. It is a variation of the popular Skunk patterns and is widely used in the northwest as a summer steelhead fly. If you look up the Skunk patterns in the literature, you will probably not find where they were originated, but you will find numerous variations in the techniques and materials used to tie them.

You can see more of the flies tied by Monte Smith and many of his own designs at The Flies of Monte Smith.
