Chartreuse Golden Pheasant Dee
Hook: Partridge Bartlett 6/0 with Gap slowly bent to 5/8 for Idaho Dept. of Fish & Game regulations
Thread: Black Griffon's Black 14/0
Tag: Gold Medium oval tinsel, 3 wraps, Chartruse floss, and same oval tinsel palmered trough floss tag.
Rib: Wide silver tinsel flat, tied in above medium oval gold tinsel, tied in at base of tag, bottom of hook shank. Chartreuse floss from tag now continues as ribbing above wide silver flat tinsel. The counterwind is small oval silver tinsel which was tied in at the head of the tag with three thread wraps, of course on the opposite side of shank before the Spey hackle was tied on.
Hackle: Blue-eared Pheasant dyed Black from Bill Morrison, Bearlodge Angler in Wyoming.
Body: 1/2 Uni-yarn black, (doubled) tied in at head of hook (leaving enough space for tippet attachment) and evenly wrapped to butt of fly to tag and back to head of fly. Palmer the silver flat tinsel forward to head tie off under the shank. Palmer medium oval tinsel on the lower edge of flat tinsel. Palmer to the head following the flat tinsel, the chartruse floss. 1/2 hackle tied in at head of body and palmered back to butt over constructed body with hackle pliers. Counter wind with hackle pliers as soon as hackle gets to the butt under shank. Counter has to bind down the hackle.
Throat: Chartreuse Teal flank from Bill Morrison at Bearlodge Angler, 1/2 stripped, tying in the tip of the feather and sweeping it's barbules under the body and using 3-4 wraps of thread to do so.
Dee-strip wings: Golden Pheasant tail strips dyed Chartreuse from of course Bill Morrison at Bearlodge Angler. Left strip and right strip tied in one at a time as shown in T.E.Pryce-Tannatt's book or John Shewey's book.
Head: Black Griffon's with Black Hardhead from Loon.
