The pattern for this fly, designed by Preston Singletary came from the fine book by Les Johnson, Fly-Fishing Coastal Cutthroat, Flies, Techniques, Conservation. In it, Preston Singletary writes that the fly is more of a style than a pattern. He uses alternate versions with different colors of materials. But, lest I reveal all that he says about the fly and how to fish it, I think it would be appropriate to direct your attention to the book.
