Naranxeira was tied by the late Scott Howell. It is a revised version of the Naranxeira that he tied at an earlier date. I don't know how Scotty's flies can get much better than this. See also his Northwest Naranxeira to the right, a variation tied especially for northwest waters.
Scotty's Notes: This fly was designed by the great Belarmino Martinez of Pravia, Asturias, Spain. He was considered by many to be one of Europe's foremost fly dressing masters. Martinez was well-known for his ornate Salmon flies and the Naranxeira is one of the few simple hairwing patterns he created. This example was tied and slightly modified from the instructions found in Taff Price's, "Fly Patterns - An International Guide".
You can read about Scotty and see many more of his flies on his page on this site, Scotty Howell Flies.
