This stunning Classic Hairwing was originated by Scotty Howell in collaboration with Leon Guthrie and dedicated to River Tweed water Bailiff/Guide, Nigel Fell.
Scotty's Notes: This original Atlantic Salmon fly was co-designed and developed by my good friend Leon Guthrie of Galshiels, Scotland. The pattern is a joint tribute to Mr. Nigel Fell , a well-known angler and 20-year veteran Baillif on the Boleside beat of the renowned River Tweed.
Scotty also tied several variations of the Nigel Fell, which you can see to the right. According to Leon Guthrie, all six flys will be displayed on the Tweed River Board at the Boleside Beat House, a great honor for him.
You can read about Scotty and see many more of his flies on his page on this site, Scotty Howell Flies.
