    Winter Red

Winter Red is  one of the Trey Combs Winter Series flies that he writes about in his fine book, Steelhead Fly Fishing.

Notes: Trey Combs writes in  Fly Fishing for Steelhead that the Winter Series flies are designed to sink well in deep pools, attract well in soft currents, but swim upright, without turning over in heavy tailouts. He ties the slim body with single strand floss over flat silver tinsel that causes it to glow when wet.  Tie the bunches of marabou for the wings in three parts, each shorter then the one before with the butts covered by the collar.
